One of the main reasons I created SAM (Strength and Mobility) Rolfing is so I can more effectively extend, enhance, and embed Rolfing’s benefits for you.
That’s why I was certified in a clinical and scientific body evaluation system created by physical therapy specialist Gray Cook.
Gray created the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA).
FMS is a ranking and grading system that documents your movement patterns so I can objectively identify your body’s functional limitations, asymmetries, and injuries.
Using FMS, I create a Functional Movement Screen profile I use to target your body’s needs and scientifically track your progress.
The FMS profile data helps me give you corrective exercises and stretches that’ll embed your Rolfing and massage therapy benefits faster and more permanently.
The SFMA is an evaluation and remediation tool that identifies your areas of dysfunction or pain.
It looks at your ability to touch your toes, balance on one leg, or perform a squat, for example.
SFMA enables me to identify and treat regions of your body that lack mobility or stability.
SFMA discovers any asymmetries in your body that exist between left and right side, top and bottom.
Asymmetries, such as having a left hip that moves well and a stiff right hip stiff, indicate injury and pain.
Efficiency in movement is the key to accomplishing your goals, and that’s why I use FMS and SFMA as professional body evaluation methods integral to SAM (Strength and Mobility) Rolfing.
During our appointments, you experience FMS and SFMA as non-invasive, easy to utilize, time-efficient methods that take only a few minutes to complete.
Using FMS and SFMA, I gain comprehensive, detailed information that helps me better use SAM Rolfing to deal with your body’s specific needs.
The really good news is that FMS and SFMA are objective, systematic scientific tools that allow me to communicate data to you and to FMS experts who send you personalized, illustrated instructions that guide you in exercises and other interventions!
There’s no cost to you for this wonderful information. Because I’m a certified FMS practitioner, you get personalized FMS health coaching– for free.
One of the most important reasons that SAM Rolfing works better than regular Rolfing, chiropractic, generic massage therapy and other body-centered modalities is that I use FMS and SFMA to give objective evaluations that show your progress.
FMS and SFMA are ways to objectively prove your body is getting stronger and more balanced because of my massage therapy and SAM Rolfing services. This is science—not guesswork!
“Sam’s FMS and SFMA showed me that I definitely made physical gains and got rid of serious pain and injury because I got Sam’s Rolfing and massage therapy. I felt the gains, and I saw them on paper based on his measurements.”
